Apple Smartwatch release is set for October, according to a report by an unidentified part supplier. The October Apple Smartwatch release is being prepared for by Apple Inc. as early as now as the company is planning to sell their first wearable device with 3 to 5 million in the first month.
On Friday, a report from Japanese news service Nikkei claimed that industry sources have said that Apple's aim is to be able to manufacture a total of 3 million to 5 million smartwatches in the October Apple Smartwatch release. They have also cited that the information has been reported by an unidentified parts supplier and sources which recognizable the matter.
The Register reports that the Apple Smartwatch release would be falling together with Apple's typical product release timeline. At this time, iPhone models will reportedly be arriving late in the summer and iPads will appear on shelves by late October.
Apple's smartwatch has been described as similar to that of the devices rumored to be in the works from Microsoft.
The Apple Smartwatch release has long been expected by the industry. According to The Financial Post, since the release of Samsung Electronics' Galaxy Gear watches, the industry has been anticipating some sort of smartwatch to be unveiled.
Reports say that CEO Tim Cook has already promised "new product categories" in 2014. Wall Street is reportedly eager to see a new Apple product this year to rouse the company's share price towards the top after years of it not being able to produce ground-breaking devices. Apple has declined to comment.
Meanwhile, Reuters reports that the specs of the device for the Apple Smartwatch release on October are still being finalized. However, Nikkei said that according to the industry sources, the devices are reportedly probably going to contain curved OLED (organic light-emitting diode) displays and sensors. These are reportedly used to collect health data from blood glucose and calorie consumption to sleep activity.
Apple Smartwatch release may be coming soon, but so far reports say that smartwatches have been failing in the market as of late. Even with big releases like Samsung's Galaxy Gear, their meeting has reportedly talked about the device's weak sales. Everybody is hoping that with the October Apple Smartwatch release, consumer interest in the devices may yet be swayed still.
