Melanie Griffith's divorce may no longer be one of the many rumors she has been involved after the details have been publicly revealed.
After 18 long years the actress is now about to end her marriage from Antonio Banderas which actually came as a surprise since many thought that they might last forever as a couple. According to the report made by TMZ, Melanie Griffith was the one who officially filed for the divorce which was previously considered only as rumors. The legal documents revealed irreconcilable differences as the nature of ending the marriage.
The documents filed on Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court also ask for spousal support. The actress is also seeking for child support and joint legal custody for the couple's only child, Stella who is about to turn 18 this year. It was not yet formally stated when will be the official date of the couple's separation.
Before Melanie Griffith decided to file for a divorce from Banderas, the couple previously addressed rumors in 2012. They actually cleared out gossips saying that there has been a strain in their relationship as husband and wife. With that, the couple officially stated that they are happy for the beautiful time they spent together.
Reports say that both parties have actually considered the split. In the couple's joint statement released, it was stated that they have 'thoughtfully and consensually' decided to end their marriage and that it was taken in a loving and friendly manner.
