Jay Carney may be stepping down as the White House Press Secretary, but it also means that he will now be spending most of his time with wife Claire Shipman along with their kids.
President Barack Obama announced a shocking statement on Friday telling that his current press secretary will no longer be in the said position. The president said that Jay Carney already told him about his decision way back in April and that he's going to leave the position by mid-June; thus, he will now be given the chance to spend most of his time with his wife Claire Shipman and with their children. Obama also announced that deputy press secretary Josh Earnest will take over the role.
The announcement was actually made this late since the current press secretary still needed the time to weigh his decisions. Now that the president has made the announcement, it is very clear that Jay Carney has decided to leave the White House and prefers to be beside Claire Shipman. Although the exact reason for his resignation is not revealed, it has been said that he reached with the decision because there's a strain in his family life.
Jay Carney is married to Claire Shipman, a senior correspondent for NBC news. The couple who was wed in 2001 has two kids. When Carney's resignation will take effect in June; then, it is already expected that he will surely spend most of his time with his family although he keeps quiet about his future plans.
Before becoming the White House press secretary in Obama's administration, Jay Carney was first known as a journalist just like his wife Claire Shipman. He also previously served as Washington Bureau Chief for Time magazine from September 2005 until December 2008. He is the second press secretary to serve in the Obama administration.
