Thailand is one of Southeast Asia's best beach destinations, and the country's beaches have drawn in millions of travelers each year. The province of Phuket, in particular, has a total of 33 islands, including the island that shares its name, that have been famous among beachgoers.

Phuket, however, has much more to offer its visitors than its picture-perfect, pristine beaches. Those who don't like hanging out at the beach have a lot to see and do during their visit.

Otherwise know as the Big Buddha Phuket or The Great Big Buddha of Phuket, it is seated Maravija Buddha statue found atop Nakkerd Hill. Believe it or not, this is the third-tallest statue in all of Thailand.

Construction for the statue began in 2004, but it was not completed until 2018. As this is a temple complex, visitors are encouraged to dress appropriately as a sign of respect.

Known formally as Wat Chaiyathararam, Wat Chalong is considered as the most important temple in the whole of Phuket. This temple is dedicated to two monks, Luang Cho Chuang and Luang Pho Chaem, who led and tended to the citizens during the Chinese Rebellion.

A standout structure in this temple complex is the tower known as Phra Mahathat Chedi. This structure is hard to miss, especially due to its intricately carved designs.
