Craig Sager illness has kept him out of action during NBA playoffs.
Diagnosed with acute leukemia, well-known NBA sideline reporter Craig Sager is now trying to battle the said illness. Though Craig Sager badly wants to be in the courtside to report, he'll surely not be able to do so. In order to combat his ailment, a statement was released by his son Craig Sager Jr. via his Twitter account saying that the elder Sager is scheduled to receive his treatment.
According to Fox Sports, a statement about Craig Sager illness was released last Friday confirming that he will not be around this year's playoffs.
"My favorite time of year --" city to city, round by round, 40 games in 40 nights. A dramatic turn has matched me with acute myeloid leukemia. From the sidelines to being sidelined, 40 veins and 40 electrolytes. Too bad, I had some probing questions for Pop." Craig sager said in his statement.
The elder Sager may not be able to ask questions for San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, his son just did. During the Spurs-Mavs game on Sunday, Craig Sager Jr. was able to step into the courtside filling his father's position. He was fortunate to chat with Pop during the end of the third quarters.
During the interview, coach Pop left a message regarding Craig Sager illness as he addressed the camera. "We want your fanny back on the court. I'll promise I'll be nice. Get back here. Good luck." Coach Popovich tells Craig Sager Sr.
Craig Sager is famous for his job as a sideline reporter for TNT and TBS has worked for almost twenty years covering the NBA. Before Craig Sager illness was confirmed, he previously covered sports for CBS and CNN. Sager Sr. is also notable for his nicknames which included, America's Sideline Reporter, Sagervision and Mr. Fancy Suit.
Before the Spurs and Mavs game started on Sunday, the NBA on TNT crew pays tribute to the reporter. Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith, Charles Barkley and Shaquille O'Neal wore colorful styled suits to honor their colleague. Craig Sager illness may have kept him from the playoffs but the thoughts of his colleagues are definitely into him.
