Jeff Goldblum Dead? Actor Becomes Victim of Internet Death Hoax

Jeff Goldblum is dead. At least that's what the Internet is saying. However the Jurassic Park actor didn't die. He's just the victim of an Internet death hoax. Goldblum is just fine.

Rumors started swirling this week that the actor died after falling from a cliff while filming a new movie. A report by Global Associated News reads, "Actor Jeff Goldblum died while filming a movie in New Zealand early this morning - January 2, 2014. Preliminary reports from New Zealand Police officials indicate that the actor fell more than 60 feet to his death on the Kauri Cliffs while on-set. Specific details are not yet available.

The accident occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. (UTC/GMT +12)."

Since Goldblum is an actor, it's easy to believe that he could have been filming a movie in New Zealand and could have died, but Goldblum is not currently filming any movies. Global Associated News creates fake death reports through a generator. A notice at the bottom of the site reads, "FAKE... THIS STORY IS 100% FAKE! this is an entertainment website, and this is a totally fake article based on zero truth and is a complete work of fiction for entertainment purposes! this story was dynamically generated using a generic 'template' and is not factual. Any reference to specific individuals has been 100% fabricated by web site visitors who have created fake stories by entering a name into a blank 'non-specific' template for the purpose of entertainment."

Goldblum is just fine. However some fans who saw the report took to Twitter to question to rumored death. Some examples of tweets include:

"Okay did any of the rest of y'all see where Jeff Goldblum died or was that some wicked weird the twitter moment I was having? thanks."

"If Jeff Goldblum died.. I will be seriously distraught. Seriously. I will mourn."

"Is Jeff Goldblum really dead?"

This isn't the first time Goldblum was killed off by the Internet. The same report surfaces every couple of months.
