Disneyland is making the restaurant reservation process more convenient. The park is finally allowing guests to make restaurant reservation online.
Up until recently, reservations to the Blue Bayou, Carthay Circle, or one of the other table service restaurants at the park, could only be made by calling 714-781-DINE or emailing dine@disneyland.com, Theme Park Insider reports.
However guests will be able to make advanced reservations online though Disneyland.com Walt Disney World has used the online reservation system for years and Disney Land's system will be identical to the one available on Disneyworld.com.
In order to cut down on people who make reservations and don't show up, a credit card will be required to hold a spot. If a reservation is missed without cancelling at least a day in advance, guests can be charged up to $10 per person for the inconvenience.
There typically aren't issues with being able to get a table at Disneyland Resorts restaurants. Making reservations at Walt Disney World is more difficult as Walt Disney World had a Disney Dining plan which allows thousands of guests to fill meals on a pre-paid plan. Disneyland doesn't have such a thing. Also, locals are more likely to visit Disneyland and don't need to plan meals as much as out-of-town tourists do. So the online reservation system might not have been necessary but online reservations are becoming more popular with sites like OpenTable.com.
