The Hertz Corporation has announced the global launch of a Hertz 24/7, a new rental service that is available 24 hours a day, according to a press release. This new program marks the first time car rental customers will be able to rent a variety of vehicles for any length of time, from only an hour to a weekly or monthly rental. By 2016, Hertz plans to also have "self-serve" vehicles that will be available within minutes of the majority of the country's population.
"Driven by the company's award-winning technology, Hertz is reinventing the car rental industry by putting the rental process in the hands of customer," Mark P. Frissora, the chairman and CEO of Hertz, said. "Technology-enhanced vehicles will be available close to where customers live or work, making it easier than ever to reserve and quickly pick-up a rental vehicle at the customer's convenience."
Once customers are members of the new service, the rental experience will be electronic, functioning with a "Click. Swipe. Go!" process. The reservation can be made on the website, hertz247.com, or hertz.com, and they can be made from phones and mobile devices or a computer. Completing a reservation only takes a few minutes. Customers then swipe the key fob against an electronic reader located on the windshield to unlock the door. Keys will be tethered to the dashboard inside the vehicle.
"Urban and suburban customers will be able to rent a much wider variety of vehicles at any hour - not just weekdays nine to five when a neighborhood rental location is open," Frissora continued. "Twenty-four seven service is a key part of our commitment to create the fastest, easiest and most valued rental experiences in the business."
Currently, Hertz 24/7 service is available at 1,800 neighborhood and airport locations in the U.S., France, Germany, the U.K., Spain and Australia. Hertz plans to add more than 2,000 locations by the end of the year. The company has 35,000 vehicles, including cars, mini-vans, vans and SUVs that are equipped to work with the 24/7 service.
