The truth is out there and it is true, "X-Files alum has signed on to co-star in the upcoming Rand Ravich drama pilot, which has been ordered by NBC.
According to msn.com, the role is something she is used to:
Much like her previous TV gig, Anderson's new project involves federal agents exploring conspiracy territory. Written and executive produced by Ravich ("Life"), the pilot concerns an international conspiracy that pulls in Washington's most powerful players.
Rachael Taylor, star of the short-lived "666 Park Avenue," will play Agent Susie Dunn, estranged sister to Anderson's Fitch. Dunn is a highly trained FBI agent who takes the lead on the mass abduction case, bringing her back into contact with her sister. Fitch will use her CEO smarts and connections to help find her daughter, reported upi.com
Since "X-Files" ended in 2002, Anderson has appeared in British television and miniseries, and several literary adaptations including "Bleak House" and most recently, Encore's production of "Moby Dick." Taylor has fewer television successes behind her - "666 Park Avenue" and "Charlie's Angels" were cut after only a handful of episodes, though her guest arc on "Grey's Anatomy" is memorable to fans, this also according to upi.com.
NBC is hoping that Anderson will take her "X-Files" fame and fans with her and try to help the fifth-place network (yes, NBC is behind even Univision) regain some share points and respectability.
Speaking about the decline in viewership Bob Greenblatt, chairman of NBC Entertainment, told the Associated Press in November. "I'm the first one to say there will be ups and downs for the next few years."
"Smash," a former hit and the pet project of several executives at the network, including Greenblatt, recently returned for Season 2 to very low numbers. In its second outing, the show fell even lower, bringing in 3.3 million viewers and a 0.9 rating. Freshman hits "The New Normal" and "Go On" have also fallen in recent weeks (the latest episode of "The New Normal" also pulled a 0.9 rating). Compare that to CBS, which has shows pulling in more than 21 million viewers ("NCIS") and 5.5 ratings ("The Big Bang Theory"), reported Huffington Post.
