A recent survey has revealed that American travelers prefer to travel to Australia over any other country and they consider it as their top dream destination. The costly flights and long travel times can be challenging for many to visit the island country, but there are many spots to be explored down under.

According to Lonely Planet, the survey was conducted by the Travel Leaders Group which revealed that Australia emerged as the top dream destination for the travelers from America. Australia was followed by Italy, Bora Bora, Ireland and New Zealand.

More than 50,000 people participated in the global survey. It was also revealed in the survey that Aussies prefer to travel to Canada, Italy, and the US.

Meanwhile, Herald Sun reported that these countries are listed as the top 10 dream holiday destinations as per the global survey conducted: Australia & Italy, US, France, New Zealand, Caribbean, Greece, Japan, Spain and Switzerland.

Out of all these, the survey also discovered that a top attraction in Australia for American travelers is the Great Barrier Reef. The Great Barrier Reef in Australia attracts more than 1.5 million visitors each year to experience the aquatic ecosystem with activities such as diving and snorkeling.

Australia is irrefutably charming to numerous Americans. With a size reflecting that of the mainland US, it offers huge assortment from cosmopolitan urban areas to the tough outback, from world-class shorelines and the Great Barrier Reef to award-winning wine locales. Apart from these, travelers can explore spots such as Sydney, Fiji, Queenstown, Tahiti, Gold Coast, and Melbourne.
