A new travelers' blanket that's weighted and therapeutic is making waves on Kickstarter. This is due to the claim that the traveper blanket will make people feel like they are being hugged and can possibly lessen the stress they are feeling while they're asleep.

According to a report from The Telegraph, the Gravity blanket is said to be a Kickstarter funded project and was designed by John Fiorentino. The blanket is made of "high-density plastic poly pellets," which can relax a person's nervous system.

The material is able to do this because it targets the pressure points on the body and these points are linked to improved sleep, mood, and relaxation. The feeling is said to be similar to being hugged gently.

This also explains why the designer said the Gravity blanket is designed to reduce stress and anxiety to people who are sleeping. Fiorentino claims that the science behind the blanket can be used to treat different ailments, such as "insomnia, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder."

The company is offering the Gravity blanket in three weight sizes, 15lbs, 20 lbs and 25 lbs. The materials used for the blanket is also said to be durable, washable, and breathable. This ensures that the people under the blanket won't feel too hot.

Business Insider reports that Fiorentino has more than 14,000 backers on Kickstarter and the Brooklyn-based designer was able to achieve its goal of $21,500 in just 45 minutes. The project now has $2.8 million on Kickstarter.

The project still has 20 days to go on Kickstarter, but the company is already accepting orders for it. Konbini reports that Fiorentino is charging a lower rate for the Gravity blanket, but it will have a price of $279 when it reaches the market.
