Man Uses 'Find my iPad' App to Locate Stolen iPad in Flight Attendant's Home

A Nevada man who left his iPad on a Horizon Air flight discovered that a flight attendant took it after he used the 'Find My iPad' app.

Wendy Ronelle Dye, 43, was arrested on Friday after the iPad's owner used the app to discover that he iPad was located inside her home in Oregon City.

The owner downloaded the anti-theft app just days before his flight to Los Angeles on September 11.

Dye tried to deny having or even knowing about the iPad at first. Upon further questioning, she said that a passenger brought her the tablet after they found it left on a seat. The flight attendant said she never used the iPad and that she planned to return it to the airline, but she left it in her bad and forgot it.

However police found that she was lying even further as they found some of Dye's personal information on the tablet, including a reminder about her husband's birthday.

The flight attendant then confessed that a passenger brought her the tablet, which cost around $500, saying it had been left on a seat.

The iPad will be returned to the owner in Reno.

According to Alaska Airlines, which owns Horizon, Dye was suspended following the arrest.

Dye is being held at the Clackamas County Jail in Oregon on a $12,500 bail.

This isn't the first time that someone used Apple technology to discover who took their product while traveling. In May, a woman discovered that a crew member on board a Disney Cruise Ship stole her iPhone when she used Apple's iCloud technology to find that the worker took photos of himself and his coworkers on the ship. The woman posted an album full of the photos on her Facebook page.
