Love-struck Canadian Man Travels 4,000 Miles To Try To Find a Woman He Met During a Vacation to Ireland

A young man is on a quest for love and a mission to rekindle something with missed connection. A dentist from Canada has flown 4,000 miles to Ireland to try to find a woman that he fell for when he met her at a cafe for two minutes during a vacation last year.

Sandy Crocker, of British Columbia just took a trip to Ireland in July 2011, but he has gone back for another four weeks to try to track down a woman that he met at a County Clare cafe during his last trip.

On July 9, 2011,Crocker met the one. He just didnt' realize it until it was too late. Crocker stopped at the An Teach Bia cafe in Ennistymon with his family to grab a bite to eat before heading to the popularCliffs of Moher. Crocker spotted the woman at the cafe and stopped her to ask for direction to the Cliffs before she left. The two had a brief conversation.

"I was leaving Ireland a day later so, at first, I didn't see the point in pursuing things more - but after she left I decided that I had to," he told the Sun.

After paying their bill, Crocker and his brothers set out to look for the woman. They spent hours looking for her around the town and around the Cliffs but they couldn't find her.

When Crocker returned home to Canada, he still couldn't get the girl off his mind.

"I went back to work and my life - but there was always a joke here or there from my brother about the Irish girl in Ennistymon," Crocker told the Sun.

Determined to find her, Crocker has traveled back to Ireland to spend a month searching for his dream girl and he's hoping fate will bring them together.

"Maybe it's a shot in the dark but if it is meant to be, if it's fate, then I might bump into her walking down the street or in a shop somewhere. Who knows what might happen?" Crocker said.

Crocker doesn't have much to describe the woman other than the fact that she's in her mid to late 20's, she has freckles and she has reddish-brown hair.

He knows that there's a chance that the woman may be married, but he's willing to take a chance to find out if that's true.

"If I meet her again and it turns out she is married to a nice fella - the kind of guy who gives her a hug if she is crying before he asks her what's wrong - then I don't think I would have a problem with that," Crocker told the Sun."But who knows, maybe she hasn't found her person - it's a 50/50 chance.

"At least I can say I gave it my best shot no matter what way this turns out."

Crocker will spend several days searching in Clare before traveling to Cork to continue to look. If he doesn't find her, he will return to Clare to search again for another week before heading to Belfast.

Crocker also took his search to the internet. He created a profile on the dating site Plentyoffish.com. In the title of his profile, he writes "Missing Person Please Help."

He goes on to explain the story of his encounter with the girl and says:

"My breath was taken away to the point of near suffocation. ... She was gentle, graceful, the kind of girl who would enter a shoe store and leave with brown boots, [whose] mother probably thought blue glass was pretty and still collectible."

Ireland locals think Crocker's chances of finding the girl are slim, but they wouldn't be surprised if he meets someone else. According to the National Post, U.K. bookmaker Ladbrokes, Ireland, said Crocker was facing 50/1 odds of marrying the mystery woman, but they said there is a 4/5 chance that she's married. "It's definitely a long shot travelling 8,000 kilometres to woo an anonymous Irish girl with red hair and freckles, but there's a good chance Sandy could steal another Irish lady's heart during his visit, so we're offering 10/1 that he meets his future wife here," said Ladbrokes spokeswoman Hayley O'Connor.
