Apple's iOS 6 Release Date Revealed: Theme Parks To Accept iPhone Admission Tickets With New Passbook Feature

Apple announced the iOS 6 release date at their event on Wednesday, September 12 and with iOS 6 comes a new feature that will allow users to enter theme parks, zoos, aquariums and more, just by using their iPhone.

With Apple's newest operating system, will will be available on September 19, users will be able to us Passbook. Passbook allows users to store event tickets, boarding passes, store coupons, movie tickets, loyalty cards and more all in one place. Instead of using paper tickets, users can scan their iPhone for admission. Several companies are all already adapting the technology to use Passbook.

Several theme parks, zoos and aquariums will soon start accepting tickets through the Passbook feature. Accesso, which provides ticketing solutions for several attractions, will support Passbook at Dorney Park and 10 other Cedar Fair theme parks around the country as well as the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Ohio. Users will be able to import their ticket purchases into their Passbook app so they can easily have them scanned from their iPhone when they arrive at one of the parks for a fun-filled adventure.

"We know iPhone users will be eager to leverage this dynamic new technology so we worked aggressively to integrate with the new operating system well in advance so that our clients and their guests can begin leveraging Apple's new Passbook feature from day one."

Passbook is also being adapted by various airlines so that travelers can scan their digital boarding passes from their iPhone to make boarding a plane easier. Delta Airlines, American Airlines and Virgin Australia will all accept boarding passes through the Passbook feature.

Apple revealed the new iPhone 5 and iOS 6 at their event onWednesday, Sept. 12. In addition to Passbook, the new operating system will have new features such as new maps, new language for Siri and more. The new iPhone with iOS 6 will be available to purchase on September 21. All Apple products cans receive the iOS 6 upgrade starting September 19.
